Adoniram RAM Lodge celebrate a wonderful Lodge Scribe

The last day of October saw the members of Adoniram Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners congregate at Hope Street in Liverpool for one of their two annual meetings.  The business of the evening was relatively short for this meeting, with no new members being brought into the Order on this occasion. There were however 2 new joining members to be voted in - Peter Hegarty, Prov.GJW in the Mark Degree last year, and John Mawdesley, Past Grand Steward.  The vote thankfully proved in favour, despite the fact neither Mariner could attend, due to business and health reasons.

Tom Marlowe, SW of the Lodge was nominated as Worshipful Commander for the next year, to great applause, as was David Karsa for Treasurer. Tom Marlowe, a member of George Harradon and University Mark Lodges, was a former Mayor of Neston, and has keen interests in railways and engineering.

The festive board was, as ever, a wonderful and friendly event. Peter Connolly spoke at length in thanks of our longstanding Scribe, W Bro Bill Merry, RAMGR, who will step down at the next meeting in March. Bill was elevated on the 15th of October 1979, and was appointed Scribe on 31st March 1981. He served as JW, SW & Worshipful Commander in 1986/87/88, before being re-appointed Scribe in 1989, until next March, when he will have served the Lodge for 34 continuous years in office, 31 as Scribe, one of the most demanding jobs in any Lodge.  Bill received a magnificent round of applause in recognition of his outstanding service.
